While playing outside in our backyard one day, we happened upon this huge praying mantis. We figured it was pregnant because where the praying mantis is usually pretty slender, this one had a swollen belly. It seemed like it was REALLY struggling to move and walk because of its huge belly (I know the feeling!). We decided to move it to a location near our door where we could watch it and we researched on Google everything that it needed and tried to get it food and make it easy. We moved it onto this paper plate because we came out one day and ants were all over it, literally trying to eat its belly - it was so sad:
I am sad to report that the praying mantis actually died. Poor thing - I'm not sure exactly what went wrong but I actually think the ants killed it. Micah was very disappointed that we ever messed with it in the first place because he felt like we caused its death. Poor thing!!
