Not Without My Shoes

James got these car shoes for Easter and they have not come off his feet very much since. He especially loves to wear them at nap time!

By the way, yesterday I blogged a little about Haylie's personality, so today a little about James. Haylie has never really loved naptime; I don't think she has ever asked to take a nap. James on the other hand, when he disappears and we find him upstairs, he is cuddled up cozy in his bed, napping away. James is much more comfortable moving at a slow pace than Haylie is. He feels no need to move 100 miles an hour and he is perfectly content to have Mommy or Daddy carry him up and down the stairs every day. He has no need to go upstairs and retrieve things from his room on his own and I don't believe we'll find him upstairs spontaneously cleaning anytime soon. :) He's all about the importance of a good afternoon nap! James is seriously hilarious; he cracks me up every minute - he is so smart and speaks like he is 4 already. I love every part of his own little James personality and am so thankful for the things he teaches me about myself!!

I wonder...

It's interesting to watch your children's personalities as they develop. I can't help but wonder if the various things they do or personality traits that come out are lasting characteristics or just phases. Haylie has always been an organizer - she has always loved puzzles and matching games and was very good at them from a young age. She always loved lining up her toys in order and stacking things in just the right places. Her newest organizing development is cleaning her room. Every now and then she will disappear and we find her upstairs in her room, putting things away, organizing her toys and making her and James' bed.

Someday they won't share a room any longer but if I were James I would want to keep her as my roommate as long as possible!

What fun is all the hard work if you can't have a little silly fun at the end?

Not the Best at the Egg Hunt Yet!

Standing in front of the roped off lawn, covered with hundreds of bright colored beacons for his attention, he could barely contain himself...James was dying to pick up the eggs at the church Easter Egg hunt. That is, until they sounded the buzzer and the mad dash began. James just froze in panic, determined that the candy calling his name was not worth risking his life!

On the other hand, Haylie was so giddy with excitement she was running around in circles, trampling the eggs but getting none in her basket. Then she started hunting for what seemed like specific color eggs because well yellow and green aren't nearly as pretty as pink.

Both kids didn't need anymore eggs and certainly not anymore candy but there's just something inside us as parents that makes them want to get out there, elbows extended, and shovel those eggs into their basket as fast as possible!! :)

We had to grab a couple eggs and bring them to James - Here he is still standing on the sidelines:

Thinking about it:

Kiley knew what to do!

All dressed up for Easter:

Back to Easter

Even though it was a month ago - wanted to get some pictures up. James was a little too young to enjoy dying Easter eggs last year but he was quite fascinated this year. Haylie just wanted all her eggs pink!

Soccer Fans

Haylie and James have so much fun playing together! Here's Haylie and all of James' other fans, lined up in the bleachers watching soccer star James!
Once I started taking pictures, James decided he wanted to be part of the crowd.

So much for the soccer game:

All In The Family

Haylie loves to talk about her family. She draws pictures of all of us, lines up her carrots and even creates us all out of Playdoh. After she finished this little line playdoh I asked her to tell me what it was and her answer was: Our Family (In order from left to right), Haylie, James, Raider, Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, Kiley, Lea, Jesus and God - cause He's the biggest.

Matching Aprons

Has it really been a month since I blogged last? Well stay tuned - I have lots of catching up this week.

For Christmas, Haylie and I got matching Aprons. Haylie loves to be a good helper and it is even more fun to help Mommy when we're wearing the same thing! Here are some cute pictures of Haylie washing potatoes the other day. She is the best dinner helper and she's even gotten to a point now where it is actually helpful to have her in there when I'm cooking. She did a very thorough job washing all these potatoes.
